I just finished competing in The Northface Masters at Crystal mountain, Washington which is a rad hill, a free-riders paradise.. I could easily do a season there if it wasnt so hard to get an american visa and if it had a bigger town base. My favourite run was a bit of a locals secret called “mini alaska”. I met up with nz rider Scott Heale and aussy photographer Ben Shaw in Seattle and we set off a few days early to hit the comp and get some shots.
Day one went sweet, sadly the venue was super tracked out. Id been scoping my line a few days before and put it down which qualified me to the finals.
Day 2
Finals were held on a face called Silver king which just got over half a meter of fresh. Was a super gnarly face, I chose a fun line.. stomped a strong top section but didnt stick the bottom, I caught nose in the deep stuff over some exposure and ate it.. well the judges didnt like that! so I didnt place well. Fair enough.
All in all was a rad week in the u.s. Met some super nice people, rode a gnar resort and I ate my fair share of fast food.
Congrats Forrest and Shannan who both got sweet swords and stomped even sweeter lines for the win. Thanks Scott Heale, Ben Shaw, Alex Yoder, Matt Iberlin, Crystal and The North Face.
